Rainbow Logic is a multi-disciplinary performance work exploring the life and work of the pioneering gay visual, dance/movement, and puppet artist Remy Charlip. It was created during Seth Eisen’s extended (6 weeks) DEAR residency. It premiered in November 2016 at CounterPulse in San Francisco to sold-out houses for the three-week run, receiving tremendous audience praise and media coverage. This multi-disciplinary collaboration is an excellent example of the kind of work that the DEAR program supports.

In this work, Amadeus Regucera, who, while trained as a modernist composer in the European tradition, is pushing the boundaries of performance by combining extended modernist instrumental performance techniques, his Filipino heritage, and his powerful queer identity.

This collaboration between jose e. abad and Gabriel Christian shows some of their life experience as the abstraction of being black performers in the bay area: what they described as fight, flight, or fuck competitive nature, disposable or replaceable black bodies.
Work Sample #4 – Sharp & Fine – Megan & Shannon Kurashige [DEAR 2019]

Megan & Shannon Kurashige explored how elements of cultural identity and their Japanese family history become ingrained in the imagination and body through storytelling. The work was created as an ongoing collaboration between the choreographers, dancers, composer Cory Wright and the musicians. The project was developed during their DEAR residency during the fall and early winter of 2019/20 and premiered at Z Space in San Francisco in February 2020.

mouth//full uses multidisciplinary performance techniques to focus on faith spaces as radical grounds and resilience mechanisms for ancestral tradition retention, syncretic cultural creation, and communal catharsis among Black/African descended people.
